Dragon Ball Figures

Hello everyone! Since lately I feel kind of "inspired", I decided to start yet another of the sections I had in mind for this blog, which is related to one of my passions: figures. I´ve been collecting figures related to video games and anime for years now. For many they are just plastic, but I always saw them as one more form of art. For the first entry of this new section I´m going to talk about several figure collections based on one of the most successful manga/anime franchises ever and also one of my favorites: Dragon Ball. What can I say about the master piece of the Japanese genius of animation Akira Toriyama that hasn´t been already said. He created a manga that was an icon for a whole generation, helping to spread the Japanese manga culture all over the world, and that even nowadays, 30 years after its original release, it´s still popular even among the new generations. Of course 30 years of success gives you a lot of time to create many merchandise related to a franchise (if you don´t agree go ask Star Wars creators), so although describing ALL the stuff related to Dragon Ball that has ever been published would be like trying to take on Kratos and Dante at the same time barehanded in a UFC fight, in this entry I´m going to talk about some of the (in my opinion) best figure collections released in the last years related to the adventues of Son Goku and all his friends.

 - DRAGON BALL IMAGINATION -

These gorgeous small dioramas (around 4 inch/10 cm each) are inspired in exact drawings from the manga series. Although originally they were sold in gashapon format, you also have the option to choose just the ones you like in many shops (or even buy the whole set). The figures are extremely detailed and well-finished.

- DRAGON BALL CAPSULE -

Another collection of dioramas similar to the previous one. Is one of the biggest Dragon Ball figure collections out there, and in my humble opinion it contains some of the best dioramas ever made about Dragon Ball. The figures were sold inside plastic Dragon Balls, and the ball of each number contained always the same figure model, which could be in full color or in bronze color. Each ball contained an extra piece inside, and by collecting the 7 figures that formed each set you could build the extra special figure. This list is not complete, but it includes most of the figures. Many of these figures are hard to find nowadays, which mean they can get quite pricy, but their quality makes them a dream come true for any Dragon Ball fan.

The figures came inside these plastic Dragon Balls.

Finally, here I leave you all the mini-catalogues from all the sets of this collection just in case you decide to start collecting them. If so, all I can say is: take it easy, and good luck!

- DRAGON BALL MUSEUM COLLECTION -

This is, again just in my opinion, one of the best Dragon Ball collections without any doubt. The figures are just gorgeous and extremely well-finished, on top of being double the size of the previous ones. The bad thing is that many of these figures are also very hard to come by nowadays, which means they can even more pricy. But oh well, look at the bright side: at least the collection is much shorter...

- DRAGON BALL CREATURES -

And lastly I would like to show you one last collection that, even though is not one of my favorites, is definitely pretty original, plus the figures are again really well-finished. It´s a collection with more "creepy" versions of some of the creatures that appear in the Dragon Ball series.

Reminds me of certain alien I once saw in a movie...
